THE CONCEPT
Vampires and Werewolves? Again?The Pitch
First of all, please take a look at our Pitch Deck. This should give a pretty good overview of The IHPA Project, and what we are trying to achieve.
Then come back here to dive deeper, and get the answers to your burning questions. You can always send us a note if you can’t find the answer you’re looking for!
Yes, vampires and werewolves. Again.
IHPA centers around the common theme of the impact “Othering,” has on individuals and society as a whole. We’re building a multimedia narrative world that is large enough to encompass stories from many different voices in unique ways.
We can easily tell interesting stories of the human side of these beings usually portrayed as villains. This does two things – it opens opportunities to have stories of other like-shapeshifting beings (merpeople, faefolk, etc.) that haven’t been popularized while focusing on their human side reduces the need for costly practical and CGI SFX – cheap, but interesting!
Not a “franchise” or a “cinematic universe” as that denotes a specific licensed IP that is managed by a corporation. Rather, we are a collective providing a world where artists can create films, series, artwork, and social media engagements. Just make stuff and have fun all while asking the fundamental question:
“Who are the real monsters?”
Of course, Washington…where else?
The IHPA Project’s main purpose is to provide regular paid opportunities for actors and artists to show off their talents aimed primarily within Washington State – a place where TV & film production flourished in the 1990s but has since moved to other markets.
Opportunities are few and far between with little capital investment. The infrastructure needed to nurture big-budget projects that call on diverse creative voices and skilled experience simply doesn’t exist here.
Sure, we could sell the concept to a major producer/streamer (like Netflix), but they would just take production along with their investment away from the communities that need it most.
Washington is endowed with a diverse landscape of natural backdrops – from ocean to mountains to desert. We are situated between Portland, OR, and Vancouver, BC – both of which have major talent and are only a few hour’s drive to Seattle. And we have the Space Needle – there’s no cooler backdrop on Earth.
The PNW is the traditional home to spooky stories involving otherworldly beings like vampires and werewolves not to mention the occasional appearance from a Sasquatch.
Washington just checks all the boxes.
